Winter Storm Warning in effect from 9pm this evening until 6am Sunday.Snow Emergency anticipated.Off street parking

The national weather service in Twin Cities/Chanhassen has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow...which is in effect from 9 pm this evening to 6 am cst Sunday. The winter storm watch is no longer in effect.


* timing...significant snow beginning after midnight Friday night and lasting into Saturday night.

* main impact...6 to 12 inches of snow...with isolated totals exceeding one foot are likely across east central Minnesota.

* other impacts...heavy snow on Saturday combined with increasing wind speeds may result in near blizzard conditions...especially in open country. Wind chills will plummet to around 30 below on Saturday night.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather and that conditions are expected or are occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight...food...and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
