The national weather service in Twin Cities/Chanhassen has issued a winter weather advisory for snow which is in effect from noon today to 6 am cst Thursday.
Light snow will begin across western Minnesota this morning with the light snow moving eastward across east central and south central Minnesota by this afternoon. In the advisory area snowfall amounts will range from 3 to 6 inches by Thursday morning. Expect the snow to taper off by Thursday morning.
The main impact will be icy roadways and low visibilities at times and may also impact the afternoon and evening commute as snowfall rates begin to increase.

A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while driving,
Please keep monitoring the situation as a change in forecasts could cause this to be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning which would mean 6" or more in 12 hours or 8" or more in 24 hours.
