Advisory

Cypress Police Officers' Assoc. members deliver Christmas gifts and food to needy families.

On December 23, 2010, members of the Cypress Police Officers’ Association (C.P.O.A.) delivered holiday meals and gifts to six families in the City of Cypress. These families were identified through various community programs as having special needs during this challenging time of year. Police department employees and other city employees donated generously through cash donations and a toy drive to help fulfill the needs of these families.

Officer James Kyle of the Cypress Police Officers’ Association, with the assistance of several C.P.O.A. members, put this program together over the past few months. Officers collected nearly $800 in cash and checks and received holiday meal donations from Vons, Albertsons, Stater Bros, Ralphs, and Marie Calendars. A gift "Wish List” was also collected from each of the six families. From the donations received, officers donated their time to conduct all the needed shopping and subsequent wrapping of the gifts. One example involved an elderly woman who was asked what she needed for Christmas. Due to recent health issues limiting her mobility, the woman said all she really needed was her refrigerator brought from a storage facility to her home. Along with a few other gifts, that is exactly what she received. Officer Kyle and a friend rented a truck, picked up her refrigerator in Westminster, and delivered it to her home in Cypress.

Due to the efforts of several members of the C.P.O.A. and the generosity of police department and city employees, these families were able to enjoy a merrier Christmas holiday.

Photographs of the deliveries were taken and we will make these available upon request.
