Media Release
January 7, 2011
On November 18 and 19, 2010 two bushes were set on fire, in two separate incidents along the Trolley Trail in Thurmont. These cases were being actively investigated in which two female subjects were seen running from the area after the fires began. Then on January 4, 2011 at approximately 7:54 pm a roll of toilet paper was found burning in the Suds Shop Laundromat on Water St. Three citizens discovered the burning, extinguished the fire, and notified the authorities. Through the course of this investigation, OFC Testa and Officer Morales identified two juvenile female suspects. Subsequent interviews revealed that these same two juvenile female suspects were responsible for setting the fires to the Trolley Trail bushes and the Laundromat. The females have been charged with: 3 counts of Destruction of Property, 1 count of Arson, and 2 counts of Malicious Burning.
