Alert

The Columbia Township Police Department is attempting to locate John Albert Rider.

The Columbia Township Police Department recently (December 15, 2010) investigated a larceny of metal from the 9000 block of Hyde Road wherein approximately 15,000 pounds of metal were stolen. The investigation eventually led to a scrap dealer in the Lansing area, where it was determined that a suspect had brought the metal, and had received in excess of $1,000.00 for it.

The suspect was located as he returned to his residence on Nash Drive in Leoni Township. He was interviewed at the Police Department, and released pending further investigation.

A warrant request was submitted to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office on December 20, 2010, and on December 21, John Albert Rider, 51 years, was charged with a felony of Receiving and Concealing stolen property valued in excess of $1,000.00.

Multiple attempts have been made to locate John Rider, unsuccessfully. Anyone with information as to the location of John Rider is asked to contact the Columbia Township Police Department at 517-592-3122. The picture included is not current, as Rider was last known to have a beard.
