Advisory

Fraud Alert reference to False Deeds of Trust;

Fraud Alert

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office has recently found that there are individuals making false Deeds of Trust on homes that have been foreclosed on. These individuals will make a false Deed of Trust that appears valid and then file the Deed of Trust with the Register of Deeds office. After filing the Deed of Trust the subjects will then have utilities turned on at the residence and simply move in. If the subjects are questioned they will provide this Deed of Trust that was filed at the Register of Deeds Office, and on its face does appear valid. The Nash County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this matter on homes in their jurisdiction. At this time there have not been any charges filed on any subjects. If anyone has any information on a home that has been foreclosed on and subjects have just appeared and moved in, please contact your local law enforcement agency with the location of the home.
