A WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING THAT WILL IMPACT BOTH THE WEDNESDAY EVENING AND THURSDAY MORNING COMMUTE.

* LOCATIONS...NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY...THE NEW YORK CITY METROPOLITAN AREA...LONG ISLAND...AND COASTAL CONNECTICUT.

* HAZARDS...HEAVY SNOW...WITH A PERIOD OF A RAIN AND SLEET MIX AT THE ONSET.

* ACCUMULATIONS...6 OR MORE INCHES OF SNOW.

* WINDS...NORTHEAST WINDS OF 10 TO 15 MPH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...BECOMING NORTH AND INCREASING TO 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP 30 MPH WEDNESDAY NIGHT...THEN TURNING NORTHWEST THURSDAY MORNING. HIGHEST WINDS EAST.

* LOCATIONS...INTERIOR SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT...MOST OF THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND WESTERN PASSAIC IN NEW JERSEY.

* HAZARDS...HEAVY SNOW...WITH A BRIEF PERIOD OF A SLEET MIX AT THE ONSET.

* ACCUMULATIONS...6 OR MORE INCHES OF SNOW.

* WINDS...NORTHEAST WINDS OF 10 TO 15 MPH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...BECOMING NORTH AND INCREASING TO 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP 25 MPH WEDNESDAY NIGHT...THEN TURNING NORTHWEST THURSDAY MORNING.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. Light north wind.

Wednesday: Snow likely before 3pm, then rain, snow, and sleet. High near 35. East wind between 5 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Snow. Low around 25. North wind between 15 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
