VACATION HOUSE CHECK PROGRAM

The Cypress Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind the residents of Cypress of this free program. If your vacation and/or business plans should cause you to be away from your residence, the Cypress Police Department has a program that will allow for your residence to be checked, by our Volunteers in Policing. Trained Volunteers in Policing members are dressed in uniform and arrive in a marked police vehicle and check the exterior of your residence.



Vacation House Check request forms are available at the police department or at the police department website: www.ci.cypress.ca.us/police/supportservices. Once you have a copy of the form, please fill it out completely. You may then mail it or deliver it in person to the Cypress Police Department, 5275 Orange Avenue, Cypress, CA 90630. You can even fax the form to: (714) 229-6612



There are some guidelines citizens can follow to safeguard their homes and make them look “lived in,” while they are out of town. Remember to stop your mail with the post office, and any delivery of newspapers. You can also have your neighbors pick up the newspapers if you were not able to get the delivery stopped, prior to leaving town. Use timers for indoor/outdoor lighting, keep your lawns mowed and hide empty trash containers. Most importantly, remember to lock all doors and windows into your residence, including you attached garage if it accesses your residence.
