Severe Weather Alert for Montpelier, ID (83254)

Special Weather Statement

...LIGHT SNOW FOLLOWED BY MUCH COLDER WEATHER FOR THE FIRST PART OF THE WEEK... A TWO PART STORM SYSTEM WILL AFFECT EASTERN IDAHO THROUGH THE EARLY PART OF THIS WEEK. THE FIRST PART IS MOVING THROUGH WITH LITTLE FANFARE TODAY...BUT THE SECOND AND MORE IMPORTANT WILL BEGIN TO DROP SOUTHWARD TONIGHT AND MOVE THROUGH EASTERN IDAHO BY EARLY TUESDAY. THIS WILL BRING SOME LIGHT SNOW WITH IT. THE MOUNTAINS WILL SEE AROUND 1 TO 4 INCHES...WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS IN THE SOUTH AND EAST. THE SNAKE PLAIN WILL SEE GENERALLY 1 TO 3 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN AND EASTERN FRINGE. THIS WILL ALL OCCUR ALONG AND AHEAD OF AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT THAT WILL SLOWLY MOVE SOUTH AND EAST ACROSS THE AREA. WINDS WILL BECOME AN ISSUE ESPECIALLY BEHIND THE COLD FRONT. WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WILL DEVELOP AHEAD OF IT...WITH EVEN STRONGER WINDS AT TIMES BY MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY. BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW MAY VERY WELL BECOME AN ISSUE EVEN AFTER IT HAS ENDED FOR A TIME. ANOTHER CONCERN IS THE VERY LOW WINDS CHILLS...WITH SOME AREAS SEEING VALUES OF 20 BELOW OR COLDER BEGINNING VERY EARLY TUESDAY. PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS IF YOU PLANNING ON BEING OUT AND ABOUT FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS...AND STAY TUNED TO THE LATEST FORECASTS AND ANY FUTURE STATEMENTS REGARDING THIS STORM.
