JOHNSBURG BLIZZARD ALERT
NEAR WHITE-OUT CONDITIONS ARE CURRENTLY BEING SEEN.
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning in effect for our area from 3:00 p.m. February 1st through 3:00 p.m. February 2nd. Snow will be heavy at times with accumulations of 1 to 2 inches per hour with a total accumulation of 10 to 18 inches. Wind gusts of 40-50 mph are expected resulting in white out conditions.
Travel should be avoided at all costs from this afternoon through tomorrow afternoon if possible. Snow is predicted to be so intense that public works crews may not be able to keep up with the snow fall, leaving roads impassable.
Caution should be used when shoveling as snow will be extremely heavy. If you must shovel, please take frequent breaks indoors and drink plenty of liquids. Anyone with a serious medical condition should not attempt to shovel but ask for assistance from family, friends or neighbors.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as our crews keep our roads safe.
