Deputies arrested two men for the theft of scrap metal on Saturday night. Rodey Reed and Mark Harshberger (both of Wooster) were arrested after being apprehended just moments after the crime was reported.
Deputies had been dispatched to a business on Sylvan Rd after an employee spotted the men loading metal into a truck... that was parked at the rear of the business.
The employee confronted the men and they fled the area, one in the truck and the other on foot.
Deputy Burkey responded and soon located Harshberger running in the area. The man told the deputy that he had just received a call from his pregnant girlfriend who indicated that there was a problem with the pregnancy.
Harshberger, was not aware that Deputy Burkey had just moments before handled another call that involved the girlfriend who was clearly not in a state of duress.
Harshberger, then admitted to his involvement in this crime.
Rodney Reed was soon located and identified as the driver of the truck that contained 100 pounds of scrap metal.
Both men were arrested and transported to the Wayne County Jail.
