The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory in effect to 8 p.m. tonight for the following areas:


Eastern Magic Valley, Lower Snake River Plain, South Central Highlands, including the cities of Burley, Rupert, Shoshone, Carey, Pocatello, Blackfoot, Massacre Rocks, Malad, Oakley, City of Rocks, Connor Summit, Sweetzer Summit, and Malad Summit.

* Winds: West 25 to 35 mph with gusts around 45 mph

* Timing: Increasing late this morning and lasting through early
evening.

* Impacts: Strong and gusty west winds will create difficult
driving conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A wind advisory means that winds of 30 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook has also been issued for today and tonight for the following areas:
Eastern Magic Valley, Sawtooth Mountains, Upper Snake Highlands, Upper Snake River Plain, Lower Snake River Plain, South Central Highlands, Caribou Highlands, Cache Valley/Idaho Portion Wasatch Mountains/Idaho Portion, Big and Little Wood River Region Lost River

Day one: Today and tonight:
Strong southwest winds will develop today across the Snake River Plain and Eastern Magic Valley, diminishing tonight. Snow will taper off this evening in the Eastern Highlands with an additional two to four inches possible near the Wyoming border.
