The City of Canyon crime rate went down 11% for 2010. This is the lowest crime rate seen in the last 10 years. I contribute the decline to the decline in reported theft cases. Citizens can do their part to prevent being victimized. Make sure you lock your automobiles and remove valuables. Don’t leave bicycles, or other things of value laying in the front yard. Individuals driving pickups should remove valuables from the bed area. Trailers need a tamper proof lock installed when not in use. Practice good crime prevention by turning outside lights on around your home at night. Place locks on back and side gates. It is a good idea to take photos of valuable items and write serial numbers on the back of the photo. Put this and any other important documentation away in a safe place. Together we can keep that crime rate low.
