During 2010 Thanksgiving Holiday, the Thurmont Police Department received numerous reports of Destruction of Property, Vandalism, and one Burglary report in which a scooter was stolen and found abandoned on the Trolley Trail. Recently, Thurmont Police Department Investigator Officer Jerry Morales and OFC Testa received information from an informant who identified suspects responsible for these crimes. Further investigation by Officer Morales revealed that a W/M juvenile, age 17, of Thurmont and James S. Mullican, age 18, of Thurmont, were involved in the following incidents: On 11/25/2010 three (3) tires were slashed on vehicles at 27 Walnut St.; On 11/25/2010 a lawn ornament was thrown through a house window at 100 Mountain View Pl.; On 11/25/2010 a motor scooter was stolen from a garage of a residence on Park Lane and found abandoned on the Trolley Trail; On 11/25/2010 a tire was slashed on a vehicle at 16 Hammaker St.
The juvenile male has been charged with: 2 cts of Malicious Destruction of Property, 4th Degree Burglary, and Theft: more than $1,000 less than $10,000. Mr. Mullican has been charged on a Criminal Summons with: 3 cts of Malicious Destruction of Property, 4th Degree Burglary, and Theft: more than $1,000 less than $10,000, Rogue and Vagabond, Unauthorized Removal of Property.
The Criminal Summons charging Mullican with the above listed crimes was served on February 9, 2011.
In a separate incident that occurred on February 1, 2011, OFC Fitzgerald has charged James S. Mullican and Elesa M. Maher, age 18, of Thurmont, on a Criminal Summons for destroying the interior of Ms. Maher’s parents’ home at 13 Ore Mill Ct. According to OFC Fitzgerald’s investigation, Mr. Mullican and Ms. Maher were fighting inside the home and broke a mirror and punched several holes in the drywall causing an estimated $500 in damage. Both young adults have been charged with one count of Malicious Destruction of Property each. The Criminal Summons charging Mullican and Maher were served to them on February 9, 2011.
