Volunteer Applications Being Accepted
The Cypress Police Department is currently recruiting for Volunteers In Policing. Successful candidates must pass an oral examination, an abbreviated background investigation, and complete several weeks of training prior to assignment. The police department will provide Volunteers with a uniform and a vehicle for the performance of their duties. Volunteers are requested to donate a minimum of 4 hours per week.
The members of the Volunteers In Policing Program have reached a new milestone, having donated over 50,000 hours of their time to the police department. These valuable volunteers assist regular police employees in the station and in the field. Volunteers conduct vacation house checks, fingerprint citizens and applicants, work in our Records Unit, assist in fleet maintenance, conduct patrols of schools, parks, businesses and neighborhoods, and assist in community events such as Tip-A-Cop, and the Cypress City Festival and 5 & 10k run.
Any interested Cypress resident over 18 years of age may pick up an application at the police department. The deadline for accepting completed applications is February 25, 2011. If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact Police Services Officer Gael Locklin at (714)229-6625.
