**NEIGHBOR SAVES FAMILY FROM BLAZE**

FOLSOM, CA- Firefighters from the City of Folsom Fire Department and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to a single alarm structure fire inside a mobile home located in the 700 block of Oakdale Street this morning. A total of four engines companies, two truck companies, three paramedic ambulances, three chief officers and one fire investigator were dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters from Folsom Fire Station 35 arrived approximately five minutes after receiving the first 9-1-1 call to find a single-wide mobile home fully involved with fire. Firefighters immediately began a defensive fire attack due to the involvement of the mobile home and the report that all occupants were accounted for. The fire was fully contained within sixty minutes.

Prior to the arrival of the Fire Department there were four people, two adults and two young children, who resided in the home. The two adults managed to escape the burning home but the two children remained inside. A neighbor who was outside preparing to do yard work noticed the fire and came to the aid of the occupants. Knowing the family had two small children the neighbor entered the smoke charged home and began searching for the children. The neighbor managed to find both children and brought them out to safety. This brave act by the neighbor saved the lives of the two children. All four family members, as well as the neighbor who rescued the children, were taken to UC Davis Medical Center for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The City of Folsom Fire Department reminds residents to make sure that they have working smoke detectors on every level of their home, outside all sleeping areas and in all bedrooms. Test each smoke detector no less than once a month and remember to change the batteries when your change your clocks twice a year.
