$1 million in marijuana seized, La Habra Heights man arrested, after another man was shot on Wednesday. 
Witnesses reporting that two men were running down a La Habra Heights residential roadway, one of them bleeding from the upper torso and the other carrying a rifle, brought Industry Sheriff's Station deputies to the 1900 block of Skyline Vista Drive on Wednesday (Feb. 9).
Deputies arriving at the 1900 Block of Skyline Vista Drive did not locate any injured persons or find any indication that a crime that had occurred.
A short time later, deputies were notified that an adult male was at St Judes Medical Center, in Fullerton, with a gunshot wound. Deputies responded and determined that this man was the same one described earlier in the day.
The resident at the original location was contacted by Industry Sheriff's Station patrol deputies. They determined that he was the suspect wanted in the shooting earlier that morning. A search warrant was obtained and detectives located in excess of 200 pounds of marijuana, packaged for sales. Additionally, detectives located a digital scale, plastic baggies, and other associated paraphernalia commonly utilized in the sale and distribution of marijuana.
A handgun was located in the residence in addition to U.S. currency. The marijuana had an estimate street value in excess of 1 million dollars.
At the conclusion of the investigation at the residence, Edward Smetak, a 53-year old White male, was arrested for felony Possession for Sales of Marijuana and ex-felon in possession of a firearm., with bail set at $100,000.
