East L.A. Community Rallies to the Aid of Sheriff's Deputy Mohammed Ahmed, wounded in the line of duty

Valentine’s Day Fundraiser (Monday) to express our heartfelt thanks to Deputy Mohamed Ahmed for his courage and dedicated service to the community.

EAST LOS ANGELES – Captain Henry Romero of the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. - East L.A. Sheriff’s Station will be joined by his deputies to host a fundraising BBQ for their fellow colleague, Sheriff “Mo”hamed Ahmed on:
Monday, February 14, 2011, from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
The public is encouraged to join the deputies to support one of their own who risked his life to protect the community. His injury is serious and he will need extensive, long term care.
Unfortunately, Mo had to be readmitted to the hospital due to complications from his injury. He would love to join everyone, but cannot. He is heartened by the outpouring of support and thanks everyone for their well wishes and concern for him and his family.

Captain Henry Romero, L.A. County Sheriffs Dept., East L.A. Sheriff's Station, and sheriff's deputies serving as Deputy Chefs and will be collecting “Fill the Helmet” campaign on Mednik Avenue (Between 1st Street & 3rd Street) from 7:30 AM 4:30 PM

Youth from area after school programs (Boys & Girls Clubs of ELA & Alma Family Services). YOUTH WILL PRESENT GET WELL WISHES BETWEEN 3:30-4:00PM.
WHAT:
L.A. County Sheriff’s Department hosts a fundraising BBQ to support Deputy “Mo”hamed Ahmed who was injured in the line of duty. With the recent passing of his father, Deputy Ahmed is the sole supporter of his mother and 6 siblings.
Event is being held due to outpouring of support by the East Los Angeles community who wanted to know how they could help. Monies raised will help pay for family support and rising medical bills. Community youth will present special get well messages to Deputy Mo.

BACKGROUND:
Deputy Ahmed has been a deputy sheriff for two years and was recently assigned to East Los Angeles Station for patrol training. On January 11, 2011 Deputy Ahmed and his partner were involved in a fight for their lives. As a result, Deputy Ahmed was wounded. He supports his recently widowed mother and 6 siblings. Deputy Ahmed has a long recovery process ahead but is in good spirits.
