Public reminder: Idaho has a move over law. If you're approaching an emergency vehicle you need to slow and move over
Passing a patrol car or other emergency vehicle? Idaho's law (Idaho Code 49-624) will require you to slow down and, if possible, move over to increase the margin of safety.
We have been doing a lot of school zone enforcement on Washington and 4th Streets. We constantly have vehicles passing us in our lane when there is an empty lane they can move into. Please remember the law requires you to slow down and move over if it's safe to do so.
More officers are killed in motor vehicle accidents than by any other means. Attached is a close call ISP Trooper Chad Goody had when a semi truck didn't move over.
Montpelier police department will be pulling over violators and reminding them about this law.
