On Wednesday morning, February 16, Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau and Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office personnel, returned to the location where the body of James Stein was found, and completed a second excavation search. No human remains were found.

On Wednesday night at approximately 8:30 pm, Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters were called to the location to extinguish a fire that burned the interior of the residence. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail and Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau investigators are working together to determine if the arson fire at the location is related to the discovery of the body of James Stein.

On Thursday, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office positively identified the body of the adult White male who was found buried in the 4800 block of West 112th Street, Lennox, on Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Investigators identified the body as James Stein, who was reported missing on December 9, 2010.

Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are still actively searching for Gabriela Stein, FH/42, the wife of James Stein, who is also missing as of January 2011. She is described as 5’00’’, 125 lbs., brown hair, with brown eyes. Click on the hyperlink at the bottom of this message to see a photo of Gabriela Stein.
