THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM FIRDAY FEBRUARY 18, 2011 THROUGH MIDNIGHT EST SATURDAY FEBRUARY 19, 2011.

* LOCATIONS...NEW YORK CITY...LONG ISLAND...NORTHEASTERN NEW JERSEY...LOWER HUDSON VALLEY... NORTH CASTLE AREA AND SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH GUSTING 45 TO 55 MPH. A GUST TO NEAR 60 IS POSSIBLE SATURDAY MORNING.

* TIMING...AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING.

* IMPACTS...SOME DOWNED TREES AND LIMBS MAY CAUSE SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES AND HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS INCLUDING ROADWAY CLOSURES AND DETOURS.

* SECURE LIGHT WEIGHT ITEMS SUCH AS GARBAGE CANS AND CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS.

* DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS FOR HIGH PROFILES VEHICLES...ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.

National Weather Service Forecast for White Plains:

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 32. Breezy, with a west wind between 11 and 21 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38. Windy, with a northwest wind between 22 and 28 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 21. Blustery, with a northwest wind between 17 and 23 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 38. Northwest wind between 11 and 15 mph.

Sunday Night: A chance of snow before midnight, then a chance of snow, freezing rain, and sleet. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Washington's Birthday: A chance of snow and freezing rain before noon, then a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Monday Night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday: A chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 33. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

All North Castle residents should prepare for the possibility of power outages during this time period extending into the overnight and until the posted NWS expiration date and time.

Residents experienceing an interuption in electrical service should contact Con Edison Directly at 1-800 75CONED to report their outage. All effected residents should call Con Edison even if the outage was reported by their neighbor.

The North Castle Office of Emergency Management is monitoring this high wind event and may activate the EOC if required to deal with situations arising from it.
