The Columbia Township Police Department investigating two burglaries in the Lake Columbia area.

On February 27th, 2011 at approximately 3:30 pm, Officer Josh Hudson and Reserve Officer Ladd Upell were dispatched the area of Hawthorne Dr. in Columbia Township to investigate a residential breaking and entering. A neighbor observed an unsecured door and alerted the Columbia Township Police Department.

Officer Hudson and Reserve Officer Upell responded and quickly determined that in fact two separate residences had been forcibly entered. Evidence was collected from the scene of the incident which includes DNA evidence.

Deputy Easter of the Jackson County Sheriff”s Department assisted with his k-9 and tracked the suspect to an area where the suspect was believed to have entered a vehicle.
