Wal-mart Thief Targets locked Cash Register
Enid Police are soliciting community support in identifying a man who took a large amount of cash from a locked register at the Enid Wal-Mart, 5505 West Owen K. Garriott Road back on December 1, 2010. What is unique in this case is the suspect appeared to have knowledge of the store operations and was able to access the money with the use of a key.
At about 6:40 PM, a white male entered the Wal-Mart and walked around the store for approximately two hours. The man spent the majority of the time in the sporting goods department. According to surveillance footage, the suspect walked around the counter and opened the register, while the store employee was away from the register stocking shelves. This suspect used a key which he had on his person and took a large amount of money from the register. It appeared that he knew where all of the cameras were located and ducked his head as he passed all except one. It is believed that he is either a former employee or an employee at another Wal-Mart store. The suspect is a white male approximately 5’ 7”, 230-240 lbs., wearing a brown coat, blue jean pants, brown cap, black shoes, blue shirt, and glasses. It is possible this suspect may try to use this tactic at other Wal-mart stores.
Anyone having information on this suspect is asked to call Crimestoppers at 580-233-6233 or contact Detective Chris Lewis at 580-616-7105.
