The Plum Police Department wishes to remind you to enjoy St. Patrick's Day responsibly. Please do not drink and drive.
PennDOT statistics show that in 2010, there were 26 impaired driving related crashes and one fatality on St. Patrick's Day alone. Of those crashes, 12 involved at least one driver with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher. Additionally, from March 17 through March 21, 2010, there were 222 alcohol related crashes and 7 fatalities.
For a safe St. Patrick's Day, we recommend the following steps:
-Plan a safe way home before festivities begin
-Before drinking, designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home
-If you're impaired, call a taxi, a sober friend, a family member, or use public transportation to make sure that you get home safely
-If you see a drunk driver on the road, don't hestitate to contact your local police by dialing 911
-If you see someone who is about to drive while impaired, ask for thier keys and help them make other arrangements to get home safely
The Plum Borough Police Department will be conducting roving DUI patrols this St. Patrick's Day weekend to ensure the roadways remain safe for everyone.
