Meet the Chief Night

We look forward to seeing you!

This year’s first “Meet the Chief Night” will be held on Tuesday March 22, 2011 at 6:30pm at the Guardian Hose Company Activities Building. The topic for this meeting is: “Why do people rob and burglarize your home?” Chief Eyler will present statistical data of robberies and burglaries that occurred in 2010. The Chief will then discuss motivating factors for these crimes. Guest speakers from the Frederick County Health Department Substance Abuse Division will be present to discuss drug dependency and how it contributes to criminal activity. They will inform the public of the trends they have seen and educate parents in recognizing drug usage by their children. They will also discuss available programs and how Thurmont residents can be proactive in the detection and prevention of drug abuse in the future. This is a public meeting designed to provide the residents of the Thurmont area with current information effecting their community. Please plan to join us for a very interesting evening and support the Thurmont Police Department with their community policing commitment.
