Deputies recovering after long and stressful night; Two injured Deputies are thankful for prayers.

As reported earlier, Deputy Lynch was involved in an altercation with multiple suspects at a residence on Driver Road in Middlesex last night. While being assaulted by several suspects, Deputy Lynch radioed for emergency help from other units. During the struggle with the suspects, Deputy Lynch's shoulder was fractured. While responding to his call for help, Deputy Baker lost traction on the wet road from the storms that were occuring at that time. Due to this, Deputy Baker wrecked his patrol car striking a utility pole. Deputy Baker was rushed to Nash General with severe injuries to his back. For much of the day, we did not know the extent of his injuries. It has been learned that he has a compressed T12 of the vertebrae, but that it is slight enough, that he will not require surgery on his back. The Dr's tell him that it will heal in time, but that he will still be in pain for some time. The NCSO would like to thank all those people who kept both Deputies in their prayers, and for all the calls of concern that we received today at the Sheriff's Office. We would also like to thank all the other public safety agencies that assisted us last night as well.
