Gayle McCandliss Art Awards (deadline April 8, 2011)
These arts awards are given annually to adults, graduating seniors and community organizations that have supported the arts in Chula Vista, dedicated their hearts and souls to the visual and performing arts or intend to make a career in the arts. This fund was named after Gayle McCandliss, former Mayor of Chula Vista, who passed away while in office. Ms. McCandliss was a strong supporter of the arts and believed that arts and culture make a difference in the quality of life in our communities. Student nominations are given by teachers for any student who lives in the City of Chula Vista and will be a graduating senior during the award year. These awards will be given as part of a City Council meeting in early spring.
