NCSO announces the recent deaths of two of it's retired K-9's; K9 Rocco and K9 Kerro
It is with great sadness that the NCSO announces the recent deaths of two of it's retired K-9's. K-9 Kerro and K-9 Rocco both passed away within the last few weeks. K9 Kerro passed away after a tumor was discovered growing inside of his stomach. K-9 Rocco passed away after complications and failure of his pancreas. K9 Kerro passed away on March 14th and K-9 Rocco passed away yesterday on April 13th.
K-9 Kerro served with the Nash County Sheriff's Office from April 2004 until his retirement in May 2010. K9 Kerro was handled by then Sgt. Eddie Moore, and lived with him and his family after retirement until his passing.
K-9 Rocco served with the Nash County Sheriff's Office from August 2001 until his retirement in April 2010. K-9 Rocco was handled by Cpl. Greg Adams, and lived with him and his family after his retirement until his recent passing. K-9 Rocco worked the streets of Nash County longer than any other K-9 in the history of the K-9 Unit at the Sheriff's Office, completing nearly 9 years of service to the citizens of the County.
Although many people see them only as dogs or tools, their handlers saw them as partners and friends, who fought crime side by side for many years. They will truly be missed.
