Detectives investigating bludgeoning murder in Skidrow residence.
Man Found Bludgeoned in Downtown Apartment
Los Angeles. Paramedics and police found the body of a 47-year-old man dead inside a room at Volunteers of America just before 7AM this morning, April 15, 2011. Based on preliminary examinations, the man appeared to have been dead for more than three days. Managers called authorities after a resident reported a foul odor coming from room B-221 around 6:30 AM.
While the motive for the attack is not known, detectives did confirm the man died from blunt force trauma.
“We are following up on several leads in the case,” said Lt. Paul Vernon, commanding officer of the Central Detective Division. “We’re most interested in learning more about our victim’s associates and friends.”
The Volunteers of America is located at 622 South Wall Street, Los Angeles.
Today’s investigation is not related to the stabbing murder of 35-year-old Eduardo Triana, which occurred on April 13, 2011, near 9th Street and Hill Street.
