Advisory

Cypress Police arrest 2 suspects after ransack of residence.

On April 19, 2011, at approximately 9:16 a.m., a resident called Cypress Police to report seeing a “lifted red extra-cab truck in her neighbor’s driveway.” The resident believed the neighbor’s residence was being “burglarized.” As the vehicle drove away, the resident saw what they believed was a large screen television in the bed of the truck. The resident provided police dispatchers with the last known direction of travel for the suspect vehicle. Just after the call was dispatched, a uniformed officer about 2 miles from the location, observed a vehicle that matched the suspect vehicle description. The officer stopped the vehicle and as he walked towards the vehicle, in order to make contact with the driver, the officer saw a large flat screen television in the bed of the truck. The two subjects in the vehicle were detained, later identified and then taken into custody without incident. Officers searched the victim’s residence and found it had been ransacked. It appears that entry to the residence was made through a rear window. The victim was later contacted and all stolen items (large screen TV, electronic items, a safe and other items; approximately $7000 in value) were identified and returned.
