Advisory

FROM THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Morning!!

As I stated yesterday, we are in a moderate risk for severe weather today. For our area, we look to be in the danger zone, so to speak from 3 to 8 pm. The main threats are winds in excess of 70mph, baseball size hail, and isolated tornadoes. Keep in mind that these are worse case scenario. This is what the Storm Prediction Center and NWS are stating at this time. This could be upgraded to a high risk or downgraded to a slight risk but I feel we will stay where we are for now.

We may see a few showers and thunderstorms develop this morning as a few disturbances move through the area. If any of these go severe, it will be for hail. Not a lot of other information to put out other than we will watch and advise as needed. The following is the web address to the NWS Enhanced page. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/oun/enhanced.php. You can monitor from where you are by checking this out from time to time during the day.

I have notified our spotter network of what to expect and the approximate timing of this event. They are all in the stand-by mode at this time and will react upon activation. The Emergency Management weather center here at Station 1 is operational and will be manned with staff after 2 pm today.

The main thing that everyone needs to remember is that all we can do is be prepared and wait out the event. I will send out another email advisory after lunch around 1-1:30 or so.

Have a great day!!
