FROM THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Good morning,
The Storm Prediction Center and the NWS have us in a HIGH RISK for severe weather today as most of you know. We will have the stronger upper level shear to support supercell activity which will include very large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. I have put the county network on alert today once again for anytime after 1400L. Parameters are such that depending where the dry line sets up is how we will react to the situation. The maps show lines where boundaries MAY be at a given time. Don’t get set on those lines because they will shift back and forth throughout the day. Here is the link that you all can go to check out NWS thinking as I don’t send pics anymore due to email speeds. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/oun/enhanced.php
If the dry line sets up about where it did yesterday, and tornadoes do occur, we will have about 30-45 minutes of warning time, give or take. If it sets up closer, we will have major adjusting to do. Either way, make sure that you discuss any and all emergency plans today at home and at work to make sure you understand all procedures before the arrival of the storms.
Yesterday we had people, once again, driving around barricades and ending up stranded in high water. We then send out Rescue personnel and their lives are put at risk because of bad decisions. Again, we are at high risk for severe weather today. Listen to your local F.M. stations for local storm information as the stations do pass along our information.
Have a great day.
