Storm Update
FROM THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Here we go,
We are now in a Tornado watch until 10 pm tonight. The High risk now is basically a 50/50 chance for tornadoes. Keep in mind that we may see baseball size hail and winds in excess of 80 mph. We look for firing time to be approx. 1500L out west along the dry line. Until storms form, we won’t have any storm tracks to talk about. Listen to your local Radio stations here in Enid for the most up to date info as we send all of our info to them.
I have had hundreds of calls about public shelters. There are NO public shelters here in Enid. Our network of spotters and storm teams are made up of emergency services people only. All Rural Fire Departments, Enid Police, OHP, Garfield County Sheriff’s office and of course our GCEM spotters.. We have no civilian spotters.
I would re-think any activities for tonight. The dangerous weather situation is such that you won’t have much time to adjust once these storms get in here. After about 8 or 9 o’clock tonight, we may see very strong NNW WINDS at 45-60 mph. These winds will be coming around the backside of the Low pressure system. Tomorrow winds will be gusty and the chance for rain will be low.
Stay weather aware and we’ll get through this.
