A temporary storm shelter has been established at the Jackson County Courthouse, 1001 Walnut Street in Murphysboro. While the exact timing of this weather event has not been confirmed, severe weather is possible anytime today throughout the evening hours.

Individuals seeking shelter should use the North public entrance
(Walnut Street) to access the shelter. Those with disabilities can use
the South entrance wheelchair ramp.

Because this is a temporary storm shelter, and not a post disaster
shelter, no pets will be allowed. Provisions will be made for service
animals.

This shelter will remain open for the duration of today's weather event only.
