Memorial Day Weekend Water Safety 
Due to an abundant winter snowfall and spring snowmelt in the Sierra, flows in the American River are faster and colder then average for this time of the year. Although the Folsom Fire Department has a rescue boat, we don't want to need it for YOU!
The Folsom Fire Department reminds you of these water safety tips:
• Alway wear your life jacket.
• Monitor your alcohol intake.
• Remember that early in the season, the water is piercingly cold and can incapacitate swimmers.
• Watch your footing when wading in the water. The bottom of the American River and Lake Natoma is uneven and slippery.
As a reminder: today (Friday May 27th) , from 4 – 6 pm Department of Boating and Waterways will be in the Kohl’s parking lot for a their 12th annual Life Jacket Trade-in Event. (One life jacket per child while supplies last) For more information, go to http://www.wearitcalifornia.com/
Life jackets are also available for loan at Folsom Fire Station 35, 535 Glenn Drive.
