Vidalia Voting

Thank You!!!

Round 2 of the Pepsi Refresh Challenge has ended and while the City of Vidalia did not win, the campaign was still a huge success. A number of very powerful and positive outcomes came from participating in this challenge. Here are but a few:

• The City of Vidalia was introduced to another grant prospect;
• Together, we successfully energized thousands of individuals in support of Vidalia, including locals and out-of-state visitors;
• We strengthened our network and partnerships with organizations in our area;
• We increased the fans on the City of Vidalia Facebook Page, bringing more people into the Vidalia family;
• We learned valuable lessons on the power of social media, communications and methods Vidalia may use to effectively relay information.

So, while we did not win in Round 2, I remain deeply humbled and proud of our community and what we did accomplish.
We aren’t giving up either! Save those Pepsi caps! They say “third time’s a charm”…look for us in September when we give it one last shot. At that time we hope to not only try for the Pond Project but also a new DARE car for our students.

There are many people to thank who worked tirelessly throughout the campaign. If I miss anyone in particular, I apologize in advance but here are a few that come immediately to mind: The Mayor and Council, especially Councilperson Lisa Chesser, City Manager Bill Torrance, the staff at City Hall, the Recreation Department, the Police Department and Zack Fowler and his 98Q team.

As I said, I’m sure there are many others as well that I’m missing.
Thank you to everyone who voted, posted, invited, emailed, called or did anything to help spread the word. Because of your efforts, the City of Vidalia is a stronger organization today than we were 1 month ago when we started down this road.

Sincerely,
Carol Kennedy
