THE NWS REPORTS THAT CONSIDTIONS ARE LIKELY TO PRODUCE STRONG THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON
The National Weather Service reports that conditions appear favorable for the development of strong and possibly severe thunderstorms this afternoon.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch may be issued across the NY Metropolitan Area shortly.
Any thunderstorm will be capable of producing damaging winds and large hail this afternoon after 2 PM. Heavy downpours and frequent lightning will also occur with these storms.
Timing:
Thunderstorms will travel quickly from northwest to southeast across the Region between 2 and 6 PM. With an onshore flow across eastern Long Island and southeast CT, there may be some weakening of the storms.

National Weather Service Forecast for White Plains:
This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 3pm and 5pm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds. Increasing clouds, with a high near 88. Southwest wind between 13 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7pm. Mostly cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 61. West wind between 8 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 74. Breezy, with a northwest wind between 15 and 21 mph.

All North Castle residents should prepare for the possibility of power outages during this time period extending into the overnight and until the posted NWS expiration date and time.
Residents experienceing an interuption in electrical service should contact Con Edison Directly at 1-800 75CONED to report their outage. All effected residents should call Con Edison even if the outage was reported by their neighbor.
The North Castle Office of Emergency Management is monitoring this high wind event and may activate the EOC if required to deal with situations arising from it. Additional information regarding incidents arising from this event will be sent when available through nixle.
