Lieutenant John McBride, Industry Sheriff’s Station, reports that a series of underground explosions were heard by residents at about 2:00PM today (Tuesday, June 14) near Amar Road, between Del Valle Avenue and Hacienda Boulevard, La Puente.

Industry Sheriff’s Station deputies, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel and Southern California Edison personnel responded to the scene.

No injuries have been reported. No evacuations were directed.

Edison personnel determined the cause of the underground explosions was due to underground electrical switches and are making repairs.

Some homes and businesses in the area nearby are temporarily without electrical power. It is uncertain how long repairs will take. However, Edison personnel estimate electricity being back to normal prior to noon Wednesday, June 15.

While repairs are being made, for safety reasons, westbound traffic lanes on Amar Road between Aileron Avenue and Fickewirth Avenue are closed.
