Stay Safe and Sane this 4th of July
With the high temperatures and low relative humidities expected for the next few days, the risk of property damage due to fires caused by illegal fireworks is extremely high. The Folsom Police and Fire Departments urge you to call 9-1-1 or (916) 355-7230 if you see fireworks going up in the air in your neighborhood.
If you celebrate the 4th with "safe and sane" fireworks, remember this safety tips:
1. Have an adult present when Safe and Sane fireworks are to be used by children.
2. Read and follow all warnings and instructions.
3. Be sure other people are out of range before lighting fireworks.
4. Always have a bucket of water to dispose of fireworks.
5. Always have a hose connected to water available in case of fire.
6. Do not use fireworks near dry grass or other flammable materials.
7. Do not use fireworks while under a canopy, covered balcony, covered patio or under a tree or bushes.
Always supervise children closely when using "safe and sane" fireworks. 25% of all firework injuries treated at hospitals are the result of burns caused by "sparklers" and most victims are children.
Be safe and have a happy Fourth of July!!
