NWS has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the northwest corner of Westchester, in effect until 4:00 pm.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch for All of Westchester County including the North Castle Area,is in effect through 9:00 pm:
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL...AND DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.
THIS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR HARRIMAN...OR 6 MILES SOUTH OF WEST POINT...AND MOVING EAST AT 10 MPH.
OTHER LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO PEEKSKILL...COLD SPRING...YORKTOWN HEIGHTS...MAHOPAC AND FAHNESTOCK STATE PARK
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 900 PM FRIDAY EVENING FOR SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT AND NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AND SOUTHEAST NEW YORK, INCLUDING WESTCHESTER COUNTY AND THE NORTH CASTLE AREA.

This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. High near 83. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 9pm. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. North wind between 5 and 9 mph.
Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 64. North wind between 3 and 5 mph.

All North Castle residents should prepare for the possibility of power outages during this time period extending into the overnight and until the posted NWS expiration date and time.
Residents experienceing an interuption in electrical service should contact Con Edison Directly at 1-800 75CONED to report their outage. All effected residents should call Con Edison even if the outage was reported by their neighbor.
The North Castle Office of Emergency Management is monitoring this high wind event and may activate the EOC if required to deal with situations arising from it. Additional information regarding incidents arising from this event will be sent when available through nixle.
