Deputies found a 44-year-old White female lying face down near a pool area in Marina Del Rey Thursday night, with a gunshot wound to her lower back.

They had responded to the scene after receiving a call of "shots fired" at 9:55PM, July 21, at the 13900 block of Tahiti Way, Marina Del Rey.

While being transported to a local hospital for treatment, the victim was able to communicate that she had been in the parking area of the location standing near her car, when she was approached by a Black male in his mid 30’s, driving a white Mercedes Benz (no license plate). He asked her for directions.

The victim said that she felt as if she was going to be robbed, so she gave the suspect her purse and immediately ran away. The suspect shot at her three times, striking her once in the lower back.

A search for the suspect was unsuccessful.
