The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10pm Tuesday July 26, 2011 for all of Westchester County, including the North Castle Area.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the immediate area.

This watch is effective Tuesday July 26, 2011 for the afternoon and evening from 2:30 PM until 10:00 PM EDT.

These expected storms are capable of producing Hail to 1.5 inches in diameter, thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph and dangerous lightning. These conditions are all possible in the warning areas.

Remember a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings via radio, Telephone, and Nixle.

Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.

All North Castle residents should prepare for the possibility of power outages during this time period extending into the overnight and until the posted NWS expiration date and time.

Residents experienceing an interuption in electrical service should contact Con Edison Directly at 1-800 75CONED to report their outage. All effected residents should call Con Edison even if the outage was reported by their neighbor.

The North Castle Office of Emergency Management is monitoring this high wind event and may activate the EOC if required to deal with situations arising from it. Additional information regarding incidents arising from this event will be sent when available through nixle.
