Woman Attacks Infant in Stroller --- Arrested and Charged

Woman Attacks Baby in Stroller

Los Angeles. Los Angeles County prosecutors have charged Natasha Hubbard, 36, with aggravated assault following Hubbard’s July 21 arrest for grabbing a 4-month-old baby from his stroller and slamming him into a metal pole.

“We are releasing Hubbard’s photograph to solicit victims from similar unprovoked attacks by this woman,” said Lt. Paul Vernon, who heads up investigations for the Central Police Station. “This happened in a shopping district within Skidrow. Scary thing is, the mother was right there and had done everything reasonable to preclude this attack.”

Around 1 PM, Adriana Miranda, 29, was pushing her infant son, Alexander, in a stoller on Boyd Street, near San Julian Street in the Toy District. The baby was belted in his infant carrier, with Adriana’s sister walking nearby. Without warning, Hubbard unbelted the child and grabbed him by the leg. Witnesses described her as swinging the child over her head, and slamming him into a metal rail of a nearby truck.

“The mother and aunt fought off the woman and Mom grabbed the baby,” Lt. Vernon explained. “Hubbard attacked Adriana, scratching and clawing her as she clutched Alexander in her arms.”

Mother and aunt ran into an adjoining store for protection, as their assailant ran away. “Believe it or not, the store owner pushed the women out of the store,” Lt. Vernon said.

Arriving officers were able to locate Hubbard with the help of witnesses who pointed her out. She was booked for Aggravated Assault and her bail was set at $30,000, despite her being on two, separate probation terms, one for narcotics and one for battery. Hubbard’s prior arrests also include aggravated assault and carrying dangerous weapons.

According to Lt. Vernon, Hubbard told detectives at the police station that she tried to break off the baby’s arm so she could eat it.

“We’re so lucky Alexander was not more injured than the bruises and swelling he received,” Lt. Vernon said. “He’s a tough little boy, and his mom and aunt didn’t hesitate to protect him.”
