Text-A-Tip leads to search warrant and drug arrest

Enid Police Department’s new Text-A-Tip program paid off again Thursday when police raided an east side house. Narcotics detectives began their investigation after receiving information from an anonymous individual via the department’s newly implemented Text-A-Tip program concerning an individual who was involved in the cultivation and distribution of Marihuana.

Detectives were told that Michael Bell of Enid was involved in the cultivation and distribution of Marihuana. The anonymous “texter” provided detailed information concerning Bell’s operation. Narcotics Detectives were able to identify Bell’s residence and secured a search warrant for 743 N. 12th. Detectives served the warrant shortly before 4 O’clock PM Thursday. During the search, detectives located Marihuana that was growing under a grow light, hydroponic planting containers as well as numerous other components utilized in an indoor Marihuana growing operation. Taken into custody was Michael Shane Bell age 33 of 743 N. 12th Enid. He was charged with cultivation of Marihuana. Additional charges are expected as detectives examine and catalog the seized evidence.
"The Text-A-Tip program worked as it was designed to, said Capt. Dean Grassino” It was due to the information that the anonymous person provided that started the investigation and ultimately led to their arrest. It was due to their coming forward with the information that this drug operation was shut down.
