A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK STATE. IT IS NOT EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE NORTH CASTLE AREA, BUT CONDITIONS ARE RIGHT TO PRODUCE STORMS OF THIS KIND UNTIL 10 PM TODAY MONDAY AUGUST 01, 2011.

The National Weather Service In Upton Ny Has Issued A Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Southern Westchester County In Southeast New York, New York (Manhattan) County In Southeast New York, Bronx County In Southeast New York, and Eastern Bergen County In Northeast New Jersey.
At 346 PM EDT...National Weather Service Doppler Radar Indicated A Severe Thunderstorm Capable Of Producing Quarter Size Hail...And Damaging Winds In Excess Of 60 Mph.
This Storm Was Located Near Yonkers...And Moving Southeast At 15 Mph. Other Locations In The Warning Include But Are Not Limited To Bronxville...East Tremont...New Rochelle...Co-Op City...City Island And Throgs Neck Bridge.
While the radar does not show these initial storms will impact the North Castle Area, it is alwasy possible during these weather disturbances to have similar storm in multiple areas.
Please remain vigilent during the time of this warning and please keep an eye to the sky. Should you see dangerous weather approaching please take shelter immediately, and remain there until the storm passes.
If additional information regarding this warnong or additional warnings/ watches are posted for the North Castle Area, information will be sent via the nixle system.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch Remains In Effect Until 1000 PM Monday Evening For Southern Connecticut And Southeast New York.
Remember a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings via radio, Telephone, and Nixle.
Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.

All North Castle residents should prepare for the possibility of power outages during this time period extending into the overnight and until the posted NWS expiration date and time.
Residents experienceing an interuption in electrical service should contact Con Edison Directly at 1-800 75CONED to report their outage. All effected residents should call Con Edison even if the outage was reported by their neighbor.
The North Castle Office of Emergency Management is monitoring this high wind event and may activate the EOC if required to deal with situations arising from it. Additional information regarding incidents arising from this event will be sent when available through nixle.
