Multiple felony charges including four counts of attempted murder of peace officers were filed Friday by Homicide investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, as a result of an August 2, 2011, shooting involving California Highway patrol officers in the City of Industry. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is prosecuting the case involving the two suspects.

The incident started in Riverside County when Banning Police officers spotted a stolen car. A high-speed pursuit started when the suspects attempted to evade officers. Banning Police officers were soon joined by California Highway Patrol officers who took over control of the pursuit as it traversed the freeways.

Ultimately, in the City of Industry, the suspects pulled off the freeway and ran out of gas. The front seat passenger suspect then began shooting at CHP officers.

Both suspects were taken into custody.

Arthur Reyes, a 20-year old resident of Hemet has been charged with four counts of attempted murder of a peace officer for shooting at CHP officers, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and felony evading arrest.

Thomas Cline, a 19-year old resident of Hemet, was charged with felony evading arrest and vehicle theft.

Sheriff's Detectives Assist CHP Investigate Officer Involved Shooting in Industry *Update*

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a CHP officer involved shooting, which occurred near Workman Mill Road and Crossroads Parkway North, Industry.

Detectives have learned that California Highway Patrol officers located the suspects in a stolen vehicle near Banning and initiated a pursuit when the suspects' vehicle failed to stop. The pursuit ended in the City of Industry when the suspect vehicle stopped.

The driver suddenly exited and ran from the car, but was detained nearby. A front passenger exited the vehicle brandishing a pistol.
Fearing for their safety, four officers fired at the suspect, striking him. A rear passenger suspect also suffered unknown injuries.

Both wounded suspects were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was arrested.

The suspect's weapon was recovered at the scene.

One suspect was injured and taken into custody, along with two other uninjured suspects.

No officers were injured.
