Suspect arrested on college campus for sexual battery of students
A 33-year old man was arrested on the Rio Hondo College Campus, Monday, August 8, 2011, at about 4:50 PM after several female students complained he inappropriately touched them.
Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to Rio Hondo College in Whittier regarding a report of a sexual battery.
Several female students reported separate incidents in which a male had contacted them on the campus under the guise that he was collecting signatures for a petition. As the student’s attention was focused on the petition, the victims reported the male touched their private parts over their clothing. The students notified campus security officers, who in turn notified the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department
Deputies located the suspect after students and security personnel identified him in a campus office. The suspect, who was not a registered student, was arrested for sexual battery.
The suspect was identified as Gregory Shiga, a resident of Hacienda Heights.
