Programs and Services coming up in the City of Wayne:
Wednesday, August 31st from 6 - 10 PM:Park-It at Goudy Park will offer the George Brothers Band (classical rock beginning at 6:30 PM), Megamind on the large outdoor LED screen, free sponsor giveaways and bounce house for the kids, and more!! This is a great family event for the community and at-large! And, it's FREE!!
Saturday, September 10 at 9:15 A.M. Friends is a community program to volunteer 6 hours of time to include various projects such as painting, planting, etc., at a preselected Wayne home. The Friends project begins with a continental breakfast at the Wayne Activity and Banquet Center (WABC) at 8:30 AM and leaves from the WABC at 9:15 AM to the home.
Learn to Skate is now accepting registration starting at age 3 and up. Classes begin for the Monday classes on September 12th and for the Saturday classes on September 17th. There is also a FREE Learn to Skate clinic on Saturday, September 10th from 10:30 - 11:20 AM for those who want to meet the instructors and just try it out!
Besides the Learn to Skate Program the Ice Arena also has many programs for kids beginning at 3 years and up such as theLittle Sticks Hockey Program. Little Sticks is held every Tuesday from 6 - 6:50 PM beginning September 6th. Drop-In Hockey also begins on September 6th. It is offered Mon - Fri from 12 - 1:45 PM and Saturday from 3 - 4:45. Open Skate begins on September 10th and offers a schedule everyday of the week starting at ages 3 and up! Other programs include the Wayne Youth Hockey Association, Sticks & Pucks (a program to work on improving your hockey skills), and more!
After School Recreation Program registration has begun. The program will be held on most Monday's and Wednesday's after school. Program schedule includes the following:
Flag Football League: September 21 - October 25
Basketball League: November 7 - December 13
Dodge Ball League; January 18 - February 15th, 2012
The City of Wayne Parks & Recreation After School Recreation Program is designed for students from Hoover, Schweitzer, Roosevelt, and Taft-Galloway elementary schools, 3rd and 4th grades only.
Dance, Gymnastics, Cheerleading, and Baton Program registration begins on August 22nd. Classes are throughout the week depending on the type of class and age. Classes are available to children beginning at age 2.
Fun Raising Golf Outing: The City of Wayne Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and Recreation Foundation golf outing to benefit the Attwood Park Tennis Courts will be held on September 21st at the Fellow's Creek Golf Course. The cost is $75.00 per golfer and includes 18-hole scramble with cart, 4 hole-in-one chances, lunch, raffles/prizes, and awards. Hole-In-One sponsorships and hole sponsorships are available.
Mature Driver's Workshop: The Senior Services Department is offering with the Traffic Improvement Association a 2-day workshop on September 26th and 27th. The goal of the workshop is to assist in re-evaluating driving habits. Certified instructors will gauge reaction time, depth perception, glare recovery for night-driving and useful field of view. The workshop is confidential. Some insurance companies will offer a discount to those who complete the workshop. The workshop is $23.00 and includes light morning refreshments.

Over 30 Group Fitness Classes are available starting at 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM varying from Jazzercise to Yoga to Run/Walk preparation classes to Core Training to Boot Camp and more!!!!!!
Individual and Group Personal Training sessions and Massage Therapy is also available!!
