All Old Tappan Emergency Services have begun to implement emergency protective measures regarding Hurricane Irene. 
Governor Christie has declared a State of Emergency regarding Hurricane Irene. Old Tappan will take direction from NJ State and Bergen Co OEM. Anticipated storm related issues are extensive flooding in low lying areas, high winds with storm related debris and power outages. It is recommended that residents shelter in place by remaining in their homes for the duration of the storm. Borough shelters are available at our local schools and will be open on an as needed basis. Bergen Co OEM has set up staffed regional shelters at the NVRHS in Demarest and Bergen Comm College. Power Outage customer contact numbers are PSE&G 800-436-7734 and O&R 877-434-4100.
