Speeding in neighborhoods is one of the most prevalent complaints that we receive from our citizens and we have had little power to do much about it in the past as many of our neighborhood streets were not on our State issued radar permit. Consequently, we began working with the Georgia DOT and Department of Public Safety in December 2010 to add more streets to our permit and our request was granted on August 30.

The following residential streets have been approved by the State and added to our permit:

Chimney Springs
Devonshire Place
Farr Lake Drive
Handley Road
Julie Road
Kenmare Row
Laurelwood Road
Magnolia Drive
McDade Street
Millbrook Village Drive
Newfield Drive
Pendleton Trail
Southfork Road
Swanson Road
Westbourne Drive
West Crestwood Road

(This list only includes those streets that were recently added to the list and does not include all of the streets that we are permitted to operate radar on.)

These streets were selected based on previous complaints and data collected by our SMART trailer over the past several months. Other streets were requested, but were denied by DOT due to several factors including road grade and signage issues. While we cannot do anything about grade, we will be revisiting the signage issues in the future so that we can add those streets to the list.

We will begin radar enforcement on these streets on October 1, 2011, so please help us get the word out and take notice of the speed limits in your area.
